Sustainable community development: A synthesis of findings and best practices emerging from the Community Research Connections program

Dr. Dale was awarded Research and Professional Development funds to from a synthesis of findings and best practices in implementing sustainable community development be examining 20 years of research.

This project will synthesize sustainability research to elucidate drivers and barriers around implementing sustainable community development and identify best practices. The synthesis will examine over 20 years of research done through the Community Research Connections (CRC) program and incorporate ideas/work of former research team members, such as Dr. Lenore Newman (now a Canada Research Chair at the University of the Fraser Valley). This information will be invaluable to Canadian communities across the country as there are large implementation gaps and asymmetries of scale in their capacity to build on leading edge innovations and sustainable community development initiatives from other communities.
