Inclusive-Specific Education Strategies for K-12

This SSHRC-funded project will result in recommendations for the design of tools, approaches and curricula focused on fostering acceptance, diversity, and inclusion for use in the K-12 sector.

This SSHRC-funded Partnership Engage Grant project, being conducted in partnership with the WITS Programs Foundation (WPF), has three specific objectives:

• to glean key insights from previous work by conducting a review of the literature on the structure and approach to fostering acceptance, diversity, safety and inclusion with K-12 students;
• to gather perceptions, understandings, and needs of stakeholder groups regarding teaching acceptance, diversity, and inclusion in the K-12 sector; and
• to make recommendations based on the above for the design of tools, approaches and curricula focused on fostering acceptance, diversity, and inclusion for use in the K-12 sector that move beyond surface approaches yet are easy to implement.
