Bio (Edward Goodfellow)
Edward Goodfellow has been involved in finance and accounting for more than 20 years, with 13 years of experience teaching. His primary work and research is portfolio management and the math of how capital markets work. Goodfellow’s teaching and client work is heavily influenced by the research conducted by professors Eugene Fama and Ken French. He has taught at the undergraduate, graduate and professional levels for several institutions.
Goodfellow began his professional career with the international accounting firm of KPMG, working in both Victoria BC and Curacao, NA. In 1996, he returned to Canada to work with RBC Dominion Securities. He has been a portfolio manager with Phillips Hager North and CIBC Wood Gundy, and an investment advisor with PI Financial Corp. He has taught finance and accounting at Camosun College and for the Certified Management Accountants of BC (CMA). Goodfellow joined Royal Roads in 2007.
Goodfellow holds a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting and finance from the University of Lethbridge (1990). He completed his articles and obtained his Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in 1993. He has completed numerous Canadian securities courses, including the Canadian Investment Management Program (CIM), the Options Program, the Futures Program and he received his Fellowship of the Canadian Securities Industry (FCSI) in 1997. He also holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation (1999) and the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation (2001).
