“As a student based in Calgary, I was looking for a program that would allow me to continue working while pursuing higher education in my industry. After attending an info session and visiting campus, I chose the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management for its blended program delivery and on-campus learning components. This was crucial; I was able to work fulltime as an environmental specialist in oil and gas remediation, and raise a family while completing the last two years of my undergraduate degree.
The blended delivery of this program is really what made it work. The on-campus course materials fit the requirement for a hands-on/face-to-face experience, ensuring the material was relevant and applicable. The online components were structured well and, when required, used online interaction software, such as Skype and FaceTime. I found these models worked extremely well for me and allowed me to schedule appropriately so I could focus on the tasks as needed.
This program is challenging and requires an investment of time and energy, however, the experiences, knowledge and network you gain are worth it. With the broad range of industry knowledge I have gained, I have been able to work on diverse projects and provide the expertise required to ensure the greatest success.”
