At RRU, I was able to hone my skills and discover new unknowns about myself.

“After nearly 20 years of experience within multidisciplinary organizational leadership, nine of which were at an executive management or director level, I chose to complete my education with a Master of Arts degree in Conflict Analysis and Management at Royal Roads University.

I traveled to Israel and Palestine to complete a practicum placement, and this is how I discovered an ongoing passion for Middle Eastern work and study. It was during my fieldwork that I completed extensive self-reflective conflict analysis at various cultural and holy sites in Jericho, numerous West Bank communities, East and West Jerusalem, Ramallah, Bethlehem, Haifa, Caesarea, Tel Aviv, and Jaffa.

During my practicum, I had the honor of being supervised by the director of the Centre for World Religions, Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University. My recommendation for students considering the MACAM program at RRU: go to the place you fear the most, and sit there until you are comfortable. Repeat this throughout your program to challenge yourself and find your ultimate rewards.

The practicum, residencies, and opportunities for international humanitarian work have been transformative, personally and professionally.”
