The Wilma Colford Bursary was created by Mary Bernard, founder of Royal Roads’ Office of Research and Faculty Affairs and daughter of Wilma Colford (1929–2002). Other family members credited with the vision of this bursary include Wilma’s children [Paula Colford, Larry Colford (late), Chris Colford and Bryan Colford], her granddaughters (Rebecca Phillips Bernard and Layla Clarkson), her great granddaughters (Sionainn Phillips and Kaelyn Phillips) and her great grandson (Michael Colford).

Wilma was a single parent for much of her working life following her husband’s passing. As a teacher she inspired and mentored youth in the three communities in New Brunswick where she taught: Upper Blackville, Blackville and Miramichi City. She helped many people and strongly supported the pursuit of education. Wilma’s family created this bursary to honour her memory and efforts.

The bursary assists Royal Roads students in any degree program.
