Championed by friends and family, this bursary was established to create a legacy in honour of Shirley Case and her admirable efforts to change the lives of many in a positive way. Case's work included working with youth, people with disabilities and environmental issues. She designed education services for children with disabilities, a group that is often forgotten about in relief work.
Case dedicated herself to building communities and empowering through education. Her tragic passing took her too soon and affected a wide community of family, friends, colleagues and Royal Roads staff and alumni. This memorial fund recognizes and remembers Case’s spirit and many achievements and accomplishments.
This bursary is given annually to one learner who is enrolled in the second year of the Master of Arts in Human Security and Peacebuilding program and is involved in humanitarian work that contributes to the empowerment of women or children.
