Scott Clements

Scott Clements exemplifies the RRU credo, Living our Learning, by continuously finding innovative ways to advance excellence in the educational systems he has managed.

Clements serves as president & CEO of Edmonton Regional Airports Authority, a position he undertook upon retirement from military service. 

During his 35-year career as an officer and aviator in the Canadian Forces, Clements distinguished himself as a true leader, receiving numerous awards and decorations, including: the Commander of the Order of Military Merit, the NATO Special Service Medal, the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Medal, and most recently, the distinguished Commemorative Medal in Honour of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. An accomplished fighter pilot and leader, Clements commanded at every operational level. In his final tour he was Commander of Canada’s Air Force.

His military career began as an officer cadet at Royal Roads Military College in Victoria. He earned a Bachelor of Engineering Degree at the Royal Military College of Canada and holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Auburn at Montgomery, Alabama.

In 1991, he assumed command of the National Defence College in Kingston, Ontario which was internationally recognized as one of the best executive development programs in the world. Clements had the opportunity to expand his influence in the world of education at National Defence Headquarters where his role involved formulating policy for a 37-unit recruiting system, and 126 training institutions, three of which were universities.

Clements delivered a keynote speech entitled Peace, Prosperity and Learning, at the 1991 Peace Conference conducted by the St. Albert Continuous Learning Community Society. This theme will form the basis of his Convocation address.

He has been married to Karen Clements for 41 years, and they have two children, Michelle, a dental hygienist in Calgary, and Douglas, a fighter pilot based at Cold Lake, Alberta.
