Scaling social impacts in contexts of poverty
Dr. Hachigian was awarded a Research and Professional Development grant to host a Professional Development Workshop into the field of scholarship on scaling social impact in contexts of poverty.
Although the phenomenon of social entrepreneurship continues to expand, the social impact of entrepreneurship does not yet match the scale of needs in contexts of poverty.
Scaling social impact is a process that depends on organizational resources, capabilities, and ecosystem conditions. Despite pioneering work, existing literature is comprised of a multitude of concepts and frameworks with different emphases on how much social enterprises should pursue scaling strategies similar to traditional for-profit firms. Overall management insight remains nascent.
This Professional Development Workshop will address this gap by contributing to building the field of scholarship on scaling social impact in contexts of poverty.
