Wolfgang Depner’s research has primarily focused on political and constitutional theories, with an emphasis on Canadian developments since 1945. Specifically, he has studied the effectiveness and legitimacy of Canadian minority governments on the federal level. He has also done theoretical and practical work in the field of Canadian immigration with an emphasis on social and economic dynamics among newcomers to Canadian society, especially in rural Canada.
Experience
Depner has taught multiple semesters at Royal Roads since March 2017. Before coming to the Greater Victoria Area, he taught multiple courses in political science, including political theory and international relations, and philosophy, including political philosophy and ethics, at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan Campus. He also writes for Black Press and Diplomat and International Canada as a journalist.
