Dr. William Holmes teaches at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. He has designed and delivered courses in Business Ethics, Corporate Governance, Strategy, International Business, and Creativity in Business. In 2024, he was appointed to the role of Academic Director for Royal Roads University's branch campus in the United Arab Emirates. Holmes serves on the Royal Roads University Board of Governors, as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of the Chartered Governance Institute of Canada, and as a Director on the Board of the Minerva Safety Council of Canada.
He has previously served on the Board of Governors of the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning and as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee on the Board of Directors for NAFSA: The Association of International Educators.
His research interests include Business Ethics, Corporate Governance, and Strategy. He also writes and publishes teaching case studies. Holmes has taught at Royal Roads University, Copenhagen Business School, Simon Fraser University, Munich University of Applied Sciences, University of Northern British Columbia, and the Higher Colleges of Technology. Holmes’ career spans corporate and educational sectors and has included assignments in Canada, Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, and the Middle East.
Experience
Holmes has served as Vice-President Academic & Provost and Dean of the Faculty of Management at Royal Roads University. Previously, he worked at Sheridan College in Toronto, first as Dean of the School of Business and then as Vice Provost. He has held positions as Adjunct Professor and Executive Director of the Undergraduate Program in Business at Simon Fraser University and as Instructional Manager of the Business Division at the Higher Colleges of Technology in the United Arab Emirates.
