
Spencer Brown is an associate faculty member for the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. He is passionate about intercultural studies, collaborative learning and research and his master’s thesis focused on intercultural adaptation in education. Brown is considering PhD options and hopes to further this exploratory research, synthesizing social sciences and education. He loves to explore hospitality trends and has extensively traveled throughout Africa, Asia, Australia, Central America, Europe, the Middle East and North America.
Experience
Brown has represented Royal Roads in China, teaching two semesters as part of the university’s partnership with Jinhua Polytechnic College. He has more than 15 years of hospitality experience, beginning with the culinary arts and working his way through various aspects of operations as a banquet captain, food and beverage supervisor and front office duty manager. Brown has expertise in hospitality marketing, cross-cultural communication and leadership, with experience in marketing independent music bands, successfully booking and promoting multiple tours across North America.
