Dr. Mihalis Halkides is a native of Greece. He lives in Florida, USA, with Susan, his wife of forty-two years. Their two daughters live in Dubai, UAE and Glasgow, Scotland. 

He serves as CEO of MCM PRIME, a consulting firm in Florida, USA, and as associate faculty at Royal Roads in the Master of Arts in Human Security & Peace Building, and the Master of Arts in Conflict Analysis & Management.

Mihalis is a multidisciplinary theorist-practitioner, passionate about innovation, creativity, life-long learning, and continuous improvement. He is always seeking win-win, fair, sustainable, collaborative exchanges, and complex, multilevel problem-solving opportunities. He holds Ph.D., MSE, MBA, MS, MA, BS degrees and professional certificates in economic development, and management science. His 40-year career spans across industry, government, nonprofits, and academia. 

Mihalis’ academic teaching career started in 1986. He has taught across multiple social sciences and business disciplines at eight universities (USA, UAE, CAN). Over the years, he has held a number of positions including associate professor, program director, department chair, institute director and dean. 

His research spans the fields of political economy, international relations, economic development, and government strategy and policy. He loves learning and sharing with his students, soon-colleagues-to-be, theoretical and practitioner know-how and experiences. He is driven by the thought that he can make a difference where others won't. 

Experience

His industry experience includes CEO and VP positions at seven companies. His government appointments with the State of Florida include managerial positions with the Florida Legislature, and C-Suite executive positions with The Executive Office of The Florida Governor and several of FLEOG's legislatively mandated nonprofit Public-Private Partnerships for Economic Development and International Trade (e.g., The Florida International Affairs Council; Enterprise Florida; The Florida Manufacturing Technology Ctr.; The Enterprise Florida Technology Development Corp., The Florida Urban Institute; and The Florida Technological and Research Development Authority). 

His team's research in economic development and manufacturing extension has received four national awards and a national commendation (USA). Some of the top responsibilities he assumed while with the State of Florida, include: Director of Florida's Research; Chief Strategist (Florida's 'Tiger' team) for Florida's economic reorganization and development; Quality Director for Florida's Manufacturing; Executive Director for Quality in Economic Development; Vice President for Florida's Technological Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Lead Coordinator for Florida's public university system (12 state universities and 25 state colleges) for economic development and innovation; Coordinator of the Interagency Council for international affairs; and responsible for Florida's international outreach, policy, and international programs.

His teams have consulted hundreds of companies and nonprofits, and have launched a significant number of startups.
