Dr. George Fedha is keen to collaborate in research and learning that contributes to transformational leadership. He has woven his work into academia and research across leadership growth , food systems transformation, and community-driven innovation, grounded in a systems-thinking approach that bridges theory and practice. Over a 30+ year career with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and other development actors, culminating in his retirement from WFP in 2024,
Dr. Fedha led and implemented sustainability-focused initiatives in more than 15 countries across Africa and beyond. As Country Representative in Namibia, he shaped national strategies aligned with global development priorities, championing inclusive, regenerative approaches to food security, energy transitions, and rural resilience.
Experience
In academia, Dr. Fedha serves as Associate Faculty at Royal Roads University in Canada, as a Faculty Fellow at Fielding Graduate University in the United States and an adjunct Faculty at Pwani University in his home town Kilifi, Kenya, where he mentors graduate students and advances research in transformational leadership, participatory learning, and systems change.
His teaching and supervision emphasize interdisciplinary, experiential, and community-engaged approaches, drawing on diverse knowledge systems including Indigenous and local perspectives. He has also contributed to graduate education design and leadership development internationally, including advisory roles in curriculum and program development. Notably, he serves as an advisor to the women only university, African Rural University - Uganda (ARU) supporting the design of inclusive programs that integrate sustainability, visionary women leadership, and community impact.
Widely recognized for his ability to foster networking and articulate a compelling vision for a just and regenerative future, he has received accolades from institutions including the African Union and contributed to the collective recognition of WFP with the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, gardening, cooking, and cultural and music events—reflecting his appreciation for community, creativity, and connection.
