Ed McKenzie has a deep curiosity about people – how they think, how they feel and how they act. As a facilitator and consultant he is focused on values-based leadership and using the principles of dialogue to engage the hearts and minds of others. With a calm, clear and friendly presence, McKenzie prides himself on being able to draw out the richness that exists in every individual and group. His works focuses on leadership, learning, team development, communication, coaching and large and small group facilitation. McKenzie also has a passion for music, the outdoors and spending time with friends and family.
Experience
McKenzie is co-owner of Learning By Heart with his wife Cathy McKenzie. He has taught at Royal Roads since 2002 and is also a faculty member at the Banff Centre. Prior to that work, McKenzie spent more than 20 years working as a journalist in newspaper and radio. For several years in the 1990s, he held the position of manager of communication services for BC Ferries, where he later moved into organizational and employee development work.
He is a certified to facilitate workshops and programs associated with LEADS in a Caring Environment and is certified in the use of OneSmartWorld’s 4D-I assessment instrument. As well, McKenzie’s ongoing professional development has included courses on conflict management, creative planning, instructional skills and appreciative inquiry.
