Cathy McKenzie describes herself as a community builder. Her MA research involved learning circle methodology: "Circle of Living Messages: Creating an opportunity for high school leadership students to find their voices." McKenzie has developed a dynamic, learner-centered consulting practice and is a proven educator, facilitator and individual and team coach. She believes everyone is a leader and trusts that, as she continues to create safe and engaging learning environments, the more she will support the “best” of others to emerge. McKenzie is a dedicated wife, mom and friend who walks daily, skis in great weather and is a life-long learner. She also teaches at the Banff Centre.

Experience

McKenzie’s professional background began as an ER nurse, medical investigator and deputy coroner. She has also worked as a civilian manager of volunteers in a police environment. In 2000, she co-founded Learning by Heart Consulting Inc. with her husband Ed McKenzie. Current public and private sector client programs focus on leadership, adult learning, coaching, mentoring, dynamic teams, dialogue practices Aboriginal leadership and executive leadership. She also facilitates individuals and groups in developing their personal leadership stories.

She is certified in One Smart World 4 Dimensions Inventory ®Assessment Tool, qualified to administer Myers-Briggs Type Inventory (MBTI)® and delivers Everything DiSC Management Style Assessment Profile. She has completed Intensive Circle Practicum training and is trained to deliver PeerSpirit Circle Methodology®.
