Steenkamp on return to campus amid pandemic

President Steenkamp profile with castle in background

President Philip Steenkamp spoke with Al Ferraby from CFAX 1070 to discuss the beginning of the fall semester at Royal Roads University. The pair discussed the challenges of starting a new term amidst the ongoing pandemic, the advantages Royal Roads has as a university due to unique program delivery, and also talked about hosting a vaccination clinic on campus at the new Dogwood Auditorium and supports in place to help students cope with studying during these challenging times.

Here’s some of what he had to say:

“…we actually started classes last week, the first in-person classes in, I think, 19 months. And I've been dropping into some of those classes just to welcome the students and also to thank the faculty and the staff who are, you know, supporting those students. And things seem to be going very smoothly. Students are wearing masks in class. The faculty seem comfortable with the approach that we have. And yesterday I was walking around campus and running into students all over the place, which was fantastic. I can't tell you how emotional I felt about that and just asking them how things were going.”
