Royal Roads University’s annual Employer Connect career fair welcomed students, alumni, and more than 30 employer exhibitors to the Grant Quarterdeck in late February, creating a vibrant hub of conversations, career exploration, and professional networking. The in‑person drop‑in event showcased job opportunities for students that ranged from part‑time and co‑op positions to long‑term, post‑graduation careers.

A Career Fair Designed to Build Connections

Hosted by Royal Roads’ Career Learning and Development team, Employer Connect showcased employers from a broad range of sectors—including hospitality, environmental science, law enforcement, retail, public service, technology, and more. With over 30 exhibitors in attendance, students networked with: WorkSafe BC, Flying Squirrel Victoria, Saanich Police Department, Acera Insurance, Amazon, Fairmont Empress, Peninsula Co-op, Reliable Controls, Gorge Waterway Action Society, Department of National Defense and Rosemead House to name but a few.

More than just a recruitment showcase, Employer Connect encouraged meaningful conversations and professional relationship‑building, which is a key part of RRU's focus on applied learning and real‑world engagement.

Preparing Students for Success

To help students make the most of their time with exhibitors, the Career Learning and Development team offered short virtual prep sessions on topics such as networking strategies, LinkedIn readiness, and strategic volunteerism in the days leading up to the event.

These supports—combined with the real‑time conversations at the fair—equipped students with tools, confidence, and connections to advance their career journeys.
