Former business prof. honoured with lifetime achievement award
Former School of Business Assoc. Prof. Mike Thompson has been presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Institute of Certified Management Consultants of BC.
Thompson was instrumental in forging the highly successful alliance between Certified Management Consultants (CMC) Canada and the Faculty of Management at Royal Roads to establish the Management Consulting stream within the MBA program.
A specialization in management consulting gives students necessary skills in consulting, leadership and project management, says William Holmes, interim vice-president academic and provost.
“It both expands their career horizon while providing them expertise and experience they can apply towards their professional CMC designation,” he says.
Thompson says the nomination is an honour.
“I think when you attain a CMC, one of the biggest benefits and attractions is that you join a really interesting community and I’ve found that to be a huge part of the enjoyment of working in that profession.”
