Empowering future female leaders in finance
The Association of Women in Finance is committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the financial sector by ensuring women have the resources to thrive at all stages of their careers. A cornerstone of their support is their scholarship program.
Royal Roads awards an annual $3500 Association of Women in Finance Scholarship, aimed at young women in business or leadership programs. The award seeks to inspire females to enter and excel in finance, encouraging them to “claim their seats at the boardroom table.”
“We aim to support women pursing finance by alleviating the financial burdens they may face, allowing them to concentrate on their education and career development,” says Haleh Alexander, AWF Board Member and Regional Vice President, National Bank of Canada. “The scholarships play a vital role in our efforts at AWF, fundraising through our organization is essential to achieve our mission.”
Through these scholarships and programs, AWF ensures the next generation of women in finance has the foundation, mentorship, and encouragement to reach their career goals and drive positive change in the field.
“My hope for the positive impact of the scholarship on the recipient is that it empowers them to fully engage in their education and professional development without the stress of financial constraints. I envision the scholarship providing them with not just financial relief, but also confidence and motivation to pursue their ambition in finance. Ultimately, I hope it inspires them to become leaders in their field, fostering greater diversity and innovation in the industry,” adds Alexander.
