Max Weselowski

Max Weselowski is a second-year Doctorate of Social Sciences student. His dissertation project focuses on a theoretical understanding of how addiction stigma impacts social identity transitions for recovery.
With more than fifteen years experience helping individuals recover from addiction, Max brings a wealth of practical knowledge to his research. He is passionate about supporting people in overcoming addiction and believes in fostering an environment of understanding, respect, and compassion.
Max is the current Executive Director for Inner Visions Recovery Society of BC, a non-profit bed-based supportive recovery society providing support to individuals seeking a way out of addiction. Max oversees all aspects of operations, finance, and expansion within the organization. One of his primary responsibilities is dealing directly with BC’s Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions in addressing the current overdose crisis.
Max holds a Master of Business Administration (2021) and a Bachelor of Business Administration (2014) from Simon Fraser University and is a certified Project Management Professional. His education gives him practical knowledge of strategy design and implementation, financial expertise, entrepreneurship, governance, and stakeholder relations. He is a recipient of the BC Graduate Scholarship and is an expert speaker on addictions and recovery.
Max encourages those around him to seek knowledge, shares it willingly, and takes joy in learning from others. Max is not afraid to ask tough questions. He speaks his mind and is courageous in the face of dizzying change. But he understands the importance of listening deeply and attentively - tough questions can lead to insightful answers. He is caring, collaborative, and creative, recognizing that the best ideas of one person can always be
improved by the many.
When Max is not working on his doctoral research or running his organization, he enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with his family in Vancouver, BC.
