The hummingbird is widely celebrated among Lekwungen-speaking peoples as a symbol of inspiration and support through life's challenges because of its fierce independence, personality, and agility. Its endless supply of energy and bright colours also makes this bird a symbol of joy and hope.
These values are celebrated in this bursary, offering a "hand-up" in moments of great need for Indigenous students through the gift economy, and is not a transactional "hand-out".
Eligibility
- Enrolled in any Royal Roads University program;
- Self-identify as Indigenous, including First Nations, Métis, and/or Inuit;
- Have reasonable financial need.
How to apply
To apply, complete the emergency funding application form and submit to RRU's Financial Aid and Awards office.
Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis and bursary values will be at the discretion of RRU's Award Adjudication Panel, based on need and the amount of funding available.
Awards will be applied first as tuition credit.
Allow roughly three weeks for the application to be reviewed and funding issued, if approved.
