The award is named in memory of Dr. Hugh Allan Gordon who was also the first person appointed to the RRU Board of Governors, where he chaired the board and served as the university's chancellor from the university's inception in July 1995 until his retirement from the board in September 2003 when he was then awarded an honourary doctorate from RRU. The Hugh Gordon Leadership Scholarship has been established to encourage academic excellence of students studying leadership and management at Royal Roads, supporting students who excel both academically and through their leadership.
Eligibility
- enrolled in the second year of a program within RRU's School of Leadership and Management
- have demonstrated both academic excellence and selfless dedication to volunteerism in a community
- preference may be given to applicants who:
- identify as part of an equity-deserving group, including but not limited to Indigenous Peoples, persons with a permanent disability, people of colour, and other intersecting equity-deserving identities;
- demonstrated reasonable financial need; and/or
- have overcome exceptional personal challenges (e.g. former child in care, children of fallen service members).

- this In-Course Award is open to students who are (or will be) active in their program on the deadline date
- pending the availability of funding, the competition will run annually from September 1 to November1 (closes 11:59pm PST)
