Dr. Rob Newell and Dr. Brian White will be hosting an Open House featuring graduate student research that focuses on issues and approaches to improving wellbeing and ecosystems in the West Shore communities of the Capital Regional District. Summaries of the research would be made available on a website hosted by RRU. Topic areas covered by the research presented in the session include environmental management, tourism management, town planning, community garden development, and regional planning and growth.

The event will include poster sessions on graduate research projects and a slide show presenting research highlights. Poster sessions will involve student researchers presenting and speaking to summaries of their research. In addition, the event will include an interactive display of a watershed planning and management visualization tool, which is being developed through a Millstream Creek Watershed visualization planning tool project. The display will consist of computers and virtual reality headsets available for attendees to use the visualization tool and explore scenarios for development and management in the watershed.

Community members, teachers, and representatives from West Shore community associations, and governments are invited to attend.
