Join us on May 14 for a thought-provoking webinar with Dr. Alexander Krueger, Associate Faculty in the Royal Roads University Disaster and Emergency Management program.

In humanitarian crises, protecting children is critical—but how did our current approaches come to be? In this session, Dr. Krueger will take us on a journey through the historical development of child protection in humanitarian settings. We’ll explore how today’s international frameworks were shaped by key moments, major actors, and evolving global priorities.

The session will also highlight alternative perspectives and challenge us to consider what’s missing from dominant models. From past milestones to today’s pressing challenges, you’ll gain insight into the shifting landscape of child protection—and what’s needed to better support children in crisis.

About the speaker:
Dr. Alexander Krueger brings over 25 years of experience in child protection across humanitarian and development contexts. He has worked with organizations like UNICEF, Save the Children, and ICRC, and currently teaches in the Transforming Child Protection into Wellbeing program at Royal Roads.
