From Design to Practice: Co-developing Bystander Intervention Training Toolkits

This Connection Grant brings together bystander intervention practitioners, gender-justice advocates, community organizations, and academic researchers to co-develop three shareable toolkits.

This Connection Grant will support a national hybrid workshop in November 2026 that brings together bystander intervention practitioners, gender-justice advocates, community organizations, and academic researchers to co-develop three shareable toolkits. These toolkits will offer guidance on intersectional design, trauma- and violence-informed practice, and interactive learning strategies for digital and hybrid BI training. All resources will be openly available through Pressbooks and hosted by the Digital Public Interest Collective website, ensuring broad access for community organizations across Canada. Kaitlynn Mendes from Western is a co-applicant on the grant while the following people join as collaborators: Niloofar Hooman (Royal Roads University), Chandell Gosse (Cape Breton University), and Shandell Houlden (Cascade Institute).
