Explores the representation in 21st century literature of the Anthropocene—the present geographic era in which human activities dominate planetary systems such as climate and the environment. Examines a range of literary themes, such as: eco-anxiety and fictional representations of eco-apocalypse; and perspectives on the non-human in literature. Invites students to contemplate human emotional and intellectual responses to the pressing environmental issues of our time.
