Ecological Economics

This course investigates our human relationships with the natural environment through an ecological economics lens. It focuses on systematic integration of both standard and ecological approaches to environmental economics. Students will learn the principles of efficient allocations of resources from an ecological economics perspective in contrast to a markets’ allocation rationale. Student will then examine persistent failures to adequately incorporate the value of environmental goods and services into decision-making and explore the effectiveness of different techniques and policies attempting to correct these failures or to mitigate their negative consequences.
