Community Gardens & Food Indepedence on Haida Gwaii
Chaseten Remillard was granted Research and Professional Development funds to examine the value and importance of community gardens in building natural spaces in our communities.
During the pandemic, people were forced to stay inside and remain isolated from family, friends, and community. One welcome relief for many was natural spaces. The pandemic made us realize the importance of such natural spaces in our communities.
Community gardens are one opportunity for people to connect with both nature and others. This project hopes to connect people that use or lead community gardens, have them share with their stories and experiences of gardening, and promote the value and importance of the garden for them and their community with others from other communities and other gardens.
