Climate Action Competency Framework: Version 2
Robin Cox was awarded funding from a SSHRC grant to continue a current project on the Climate Adaptation Competency Framework to guide Royal Roads University’s climate action plan.
In 2021, the Resilience by Design lab launched the first ever comprehensive Climate Adaptation Competency Framework as part of their Adaptation Learning Network project. The framework (CACF) provides an evidence-informed tool for understanding what competencies (knowledge, skills, attitudes) are necessary for conducting climate adaptation work. The current project will build on the CACF to extend it to a Climate Action Competency Framework, addressing both adaptation and mitigation, and to revise the structure to improve its useability in learning design and assessment contexts, and to provide multiple pathways through the framework that related to different uses and contexts. The outputs of this work will help inform and guide workforce development and learning design and implementation related to climate action. This includes guiding RRU’s climate action plan educational strategies, the MA Climate Action Leadership program, and the university’s collaboration with Pearson College’s Climate Action Leadership Diploma.
