Program Completion Options
The Master of Global Management (MGM) program gives you four choices of completing the program. All options emphasize experiential learning – the application of the business knowledge acquired in the MGM program to real-word situations.
The applied nature of the program offers graduates industry-recognized competencies needed to lead and succeed within the global market.
Global Management Project
(MGMT 581 - 6 credits)
The Global Management Project is a six-credit course, ideal for learners with previous experience that provides the opportunity to integrate the skills, knowledge, and competencies you’ve acquired throughout your MGM program with your previous experience. Through this experiential-learning option, you will gain an informed and intelligent perspective about the real-world of business by choosing an applied management research project on a particular industry, topic or organization, or doing a consulting project addressing a particular issue identified by an organization to explore its inherent challenges, or focus on any management discipline to create a comprehensive understanding. The Global Management Project done as a consulting project can be used to qualify for a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designation as offered by the Canadian Association of Management Consultants.
Internship Research Project Option
(MGMT 589 - 6 credits)
The Internship Research Project involves a compulsory internship component. The internship is completed after completing the 12 months of core coursework. The overall objective of this completion option is to support the integration and application of the skills, knowledge and concepts learned throughout the MGM program, while providing the opportunity to integrate theory and practice to demonstrate your competency within the business environment. You will choose a project for an internship client based on an identified issue or question for the client organization. Your internship can help to further develop certain core attitudes, strategies, and skills within a workplace setting.
The Internship Research Project is ideal for students seeking to explore new careers in Canada and abroad.
Our Work Integrated Learning team will guide you through the internship experience by helping to identify the career experience you’re looking for, and assist with the process of securing the internship in your preferred industry. The Work Integrated Learning team works with existing networks and alumni to maximize networking opportunities, but ultimately it is up to each student to find an appropriate internship. The university does not provide placement services, and we cannot guarantee any particular type of internship.
The MGM Internship Research Project is completed over 23 weeks, and combines a minimum of 12 weeks in the workplace with academic coursework to maximize the learning experience and help create job-ready graduates. Prior to starting the Internship Research course, you will spend 4 to 5 months collaborating with our Work Integrated Learning team in customized workshops for career development and work search skills. The preparation is individualized for each student and their particular goals, skills, background, and interests. Additional information regarding our internship support is available on our website.
