Join us for Fall 2018 Convocation Thursday, November 8

Fall 2018 Convocation ceremonies will be held Thursday, Nov. 8 at the Royal Theatre in downtown Victoria.

The 9:30 a.m. ceremony honours graduates of the Faculty of Social and Applied Sciences and the College of Interdisciplinary Studies, while the 2 p.m. ceremony honours graduates of the Faculty of Management and School of Leadership.

Can’t make it in person? Connect via Livestream for both morning and afternoon ceremonies.

Kick off your convocation celebrations by reconnecting with your cohort at the New Alumni Reception hosted by Royal Roads Alumni Relations on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hatley Castle.

How do I apply to attend fall 2018 convocation?

All graduates wishing to attend convocation must complete the Application to Attend Convocation (ATAC).  Please click here to complete.

The deadline to complete the ATAC for Fall Convocation is Friday, Oct. 5, 2018.

What to expect on convocation day

Please arrive at the Royal Theatre one hour before your convocation ceremony begins to pick up your grad gown, hood and cap. You will also be given a name card containing your credentials, any awards you have or will be receiving, and your seat assignment. You are seated by program and in alphabetical order. 

Your gown and hood can be returned at the Royal Theatre following your ceremony or at Hatley Castle at Royal Roads University by 6:00 p.m. on convocation day.

Where is the ceremony?

Convocation ceremonies will be held at the Royal Theatre in downtown Victoria. The theatre is located at 805 Broughton Street, Victoria, BC

Street parking as well as a number of downtown parkades are available within walking distance to the Royal Theatre. 

The Royal Theatre is a wheelchair accessible facility. People with mobility issues and those using wheelschairs may use the drop-off area in front of the theatre. Upon arrival, please let a theatre usher know your needs and they will be happy to assist you.

How do I order guest tickets?

The Application to Attend Convocation (ATAC) form allows each graduate to request up to three (3) complimentary guest tickets. Due to fire regulations all guests, including infants and small children, require a ticket to attend. Graduate seating is not included with guest tickets.

Guest tickets will be mailed to you by the Royal Theatre box office. If you have not received your tickets by the end of October, please contact the Royal Theatre box office directly at (250) 386-6121. Lost or misplaced tickets can be reprinted at the box office upon arrival to the Royal Theatre.

Additional guest tickets

Should there be extra guest tickets available, this will be managed by the Royal Theatre box office directly at 250-386-6121 or via their website starting Oct. 22, 2018. These guest tickets are also complimentary.

Have unused guest tickets?
If you find you are unable to use your guest tickets, please hand them in to the Royal Theatre box office on ceremony day so others have the opportunity to attend.

Will there be a live broadcast?

For those unable to attend the convocation ceremonies, a live webcast will be made available by clicking here Nov. 8, 2018.

Looking for photography, frames or rings?

Photography

Lifetouch Canada will have a photography studio for graduation portraits on Wednesday, Nov. 7 as part of the New Alumni Reception and on Convocation Day, Thursday, Nov. 8, inside Hatley Castle. Reservations are recommended and can be found on their website

Framing

Leader Frames supply Royal Roads alumni with premium custom frames to showcase their diplomas. Leaderframes is dedicated to ensuring that all of their products are ethically produced and environmentally friendly. Alumni and friends may purchase frames online through their website. Please visit their display where you can purchase a frame inside Hatley Castle during the New Alumni Reception on Wednesday, Nov. 7.    

Class Rings

Jostens offers Royal Roads alumni class rings. Each unique class ring includes a free lifetime warranty, full name engraving, re-sizing/sizing and insurance against loss or theft. Alumni and friends may purchase class rings by contacting our local sales representative. A representative will be available during the New Alumni Reception on Wednesday, Nov. 7 to showcase their product line.
